A Jazz Fellowship

 In Fellowship

The last fellowship of the current Fellowship Committee was held at the Quarter, a new age music venue at Mumbai’s iconic Royal Opera House, offering live jazz with drinks and dining, on Sunday, May 20th at midday.

65 Rotarians & Rotary Annes against 80 confirmations, showed up on a hot May Sunday in the peak of the holiday season, to enjoy the plentiful fine wine, cocktails, delectable hor d’oeuvres, delicious signature salad and main courses, and the wicked but still desirable dessert, served to all guests seated at tables and standing by the bar, enjoying the live music that added to the feast.

The band perfoming was an international collection of talented musicians with the attractive yet talented young German vocalist Lydia Hornung, accompanied by Italian GianLuca Liberatore playing upright jazz base guitar, Greek Thristos Yerolatsitin playing piano and our Indian drummer Saurav Ghosh, all very entertaining and accomplished in their own craft. They played some popular jazz nos including”In a Sentimental Mood”,”East of the Sun”, “The Girl from Epanema”, “Mas Que Nada”, “Norwegian Girl” “Day & Night”, a couple of Spanish tracks, and “Hey Jude” to get our front row singers Dr. Sharukh Golwalla and PP Zerxis Umrigar and others joining in chorus, and some dance tunes to excite the animal spirits enough in our PP Harry Singh to spontaneously break into a jig.

All present thoroughly enjoy the delightful afternoon of bonding, jazz and razzmatazz, making it a fitting Grand Finale to close a brilliant Fellowship year. All credit to Chairman Sandip Agarwalla and his team for making it a most memorable one.
