Digitization of books at Asiatic Library

The Hermes team visited the Asiatic Library last week to see the restoration and conservation of books which has been
sponsored by them and facilitated by the Rotary Club of Bombay. 100 books have been restored. The process took 10
months for 100 books. It is a painstaking, manual process and the results are amazing. The old books need to be removed page by page and then chemically treated and then dried. A specially imported Japanese parchment paper is used to carry out the restoration process.
