 In Sports

On Saturday 8th September 2018, the Sports Committee kicked off its first event of the year by hosting the Fourth Annual Football Fellowship.

It was attended by a number of Rotarians and their family members – as both participants and spectators. Two teams were formed, and two games played. Team 1, with Hursh Meghani serving as captain, comprised Hursh, Mudit Jatia, Abhishek Saraf, Rohan Saraf (son of Abhishek), Neel Shah (son of Rajesh Shah), Vivek Himatsingka and Jaymin
Jhaveri.

Team 2, with Jamshyd Vazifdar serving as captain, comprised Jamshyd, Satyan Israni, Mehernosh Dotivala, Sanjiv Mehra, Murad Currawala, Bimal Mehta and Mehul Sampat. Cheering the teams from the sidelines – President Vijay Jatia and wife Gauri, Rtn. Moy Biswas, Rtn. Murad’s wife Nilofer and son Tushad, Rtn. Madhusudhan Daga, Rtn. Rajesh Shah, and Jamshyd’s mother Niloufer Vazifdar

Each game was played over two halves, with Moy acting as the referee. The first game was tied with the score at 2-2 after normal time. We then had our first-ever penalty shoot out to decide the victors. This went down to the
very last kick, and Hursh’s team won 3-2.

After a short interval the second game was played, in which Hursh’s team won convincingly by a 4 goal margin, with no need to call for a penalty shootout.

After the games, trophies were distributed and Sports Committee Chairman Sanjiv Mehra thanked all the participants and everyone who came to support them. Many more sports events will follow in the months to come.
