Junior By – Educating the young and Impressionable Minds

Bhavishya Yaan has started a new initiative called Junior BY that aims to take quality education to the poor and needy children. It also intends to inculcate in them discipline and moral values at an early age. Junior BY caters to students from 1st to 4th standards, as children at this age absorb language as well as reading skills at a much faster rate as compared to the elders. The key focus of Junior BY is to teach students the English language at an early age. Apart from helping the students with their school curriculum, they are also taught the language through E-learning and innovative teaching techniques.

Junior BY has opened its doors to the primary section in two municipal schools in Mumbai, NM Joshi School and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar School at Worli, in Dec 2016.

The enthusiasm shown by the kids is a joy to see. The tiny tots with small attention span, who did not know a single word in English have already within a span of 6 weeks, begun reading and saying simple English words, which is a remarkable achievement. The children are also being exposed to computers, which is further motivating them and holding their attention.

The dedicated efforts of R/ Annes Avaan and Jaya ably supported by Vidya and Infotrooper teachers have been responsible for the dramatic performance of these children. NM Joshi School has admitted 135 children and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar School has admitted 85 children of the Hindi and Marathi sections. The response of BMC has been encouraging as well.

Thanks to the Nutrition Committee the children are given a fruit everyday taking this project to a flying start!
