MUSICAL EVENING AT THE ASIATIC

 In Urban Heritage

The Urban Heritage Committee organised a wonderful evening of music, featuring acclaimed jazz pianist and composer Richard X Bennett at the Durbar Hall of the Asiatic Library on January 18, 2019. The concert was well attended by a select audience of about 80 guests. Richard, a New York-based musician has headlined in Mumbai at the Kalaghoda Festival.

In New York, he has performed at Lincoln Center Out of Doors, the Guggenheim Museum, the Rubin Museum and Central Park Summerstage. During the performance at the Asiatic, Richard’s wife, Paula took everyone by surprise by coming up to the stage and singing beautifully. After the interval, Dhanashree Pandit Rai, a well-known Indian classical vocalist made a surprise appearance and gave a wonderful performance. All proceeds raised from the show go towards the Asiatic preservation projects being carried out by RCB.

If you missed out on this one, don’t fret! The UHC is organising another wonderful evening at the majestic Durbar Hall on February 8, 2019.
