New Year talent show at Project Lighthouse

 In Lighthouse

The Lighthouse class held its New Year concert on the morning of January 6, 2019. Around a hundred students from K.G. to Std. IV participated in the programme, which was held on the community stage outside the classroom.

About 150 parents came to see their children perform on the stage for first time. This was a way of showcasing, to
the parents, what their new class was all about.

President Vijay Jatia, IPP Rtn. Ramesh Narayan and Chairman Rajesh Shah spent the morning in the spirit of the season, encouraging kids and making the community feel special.

We thank Pratibha Pai, corporate trainer and a philanthropist and Geeta Dhote for not only guiding this project from the very first day but also being involved in bringing it to its present stage. Her vision and contribution are
invaluable. Geeta Dhote explained to people from the community, in their own Marathi language, what this project was about. Her talk was so motivating that parents promised to give a hundred per cent cooperation and thanked RCB for taking this initiative to give such exposure to their children.

The show began with a lively dance performed to the tune of the everpopular carol Jingle Bells. This was followed by a small skit portraying the birth of Jesus Christ in English. A taekwondo instructor gave a short martial arts demonstration while a yoga instructor put up a play along with the older students, showcasing the life of the greatest yogi in mythology, Prahlad and the triumph of good over evil.

The programme was well attended by 250 people comprising senior Rotarians, Vidya staff including Chief Operating Officer Suhas Rao and parents and well-wishers from the Bhai Bandarkar Fishermen’s Colony. The show was a great success. The talent and effort put in by the children was praised by all.
