Vision, Mission and Values are terms we often see in the corporate world and many of us struggle to find corresponding ones as individuals. There is also an added pressure that we take upon ourselves to identify and pursue some unique vision of our own. We have come to believe that a vision that is specific to us defines us as more successful and intellectual.

The truth of the matter is that less than 2 per cent people in this world have a unique vision of the future. Then we have a few who are the early adopters of the vision, and a major portion of the population comes in the next round as followers while there will always be some laggards or non-converters.

Through his famous speech in 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. placed before the people the dream that he had for his nation – that the brotherhood between the blacks and whites would become a reality. This vision became the shared vision for many, many years and the momentum it gathered brought about the change.

So, identifying a vision aligned to our values and beliefs is sufficient for leading a meaningful life. Our participation that is driven by the vision of someone else is akin to joining an infinite game because these are
the movements where new members join all the time and they remain in the game just for the final goal rather than any winning.

This week, RCB has joined the shared vision of those who are making attempts towards creating equitable livelihood
opportunities for marginalised communities from the LGBTQA+ section of our society. By partnering with a CSR donor, Deutsche Bank, RCB is taking the important step of setting up Mumbai’s first beauty salon and spa that will be run by trained beauty professionals, some of whom are transgenders.

The Transformation Salon Project in Prabhadevi will provide quality salon and spa services to the general populace in the locality and aims to bring economic justice to those who are discriminated in our society. The business enterprise of the salon will offer an opportunity to find sustainable livelihood through a life of dignity.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION (DEI) IS THE STATED FOCUS AREA OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL THIS YEAR AND IT IS A MATTER OF GREAT SATISFACTION THAT RCB HAS FOUND A WAY TO JOIN THIS INFINITE GAME THE FINAL SCORE CARD OF WHICH MAY NOT COME OUT OVERNIGHT BUT OUR PARTICIPATION IN THE MOVEMENT TO CREATE A DIVERSE AND EQUITABLE WORLD AROUND OURSELVES IS ALIGNED TO OUR MISSION AND VALUES.
