✨ At the heart of the Rotary Club of Bombay’s Lighthouse Programme is the mission to inspire children to learn, explore, and celebrate the beauty of the world around us. This Diwali, the Lighthouse children embarked on a vibrant week-long camp themed around the β€œSouthern States” of India.
🌟 Over seven exciting days, the children journeyed through Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala. They delved into the rich culture and heritage of each state, discovering famous landmarks, notable personalities, traditional folk dances, and delectable local cuisines.
πŸŽ¨πŸ“š Through hands-on learning, the children created informative brochures filled with key highlights of the states they explored. These brochures became a testament to their curiosity, creativity, and dedication to learning.
The camp concluded with a colourful programme where each group proudly presented their brochures. Their presentations brought to life the stories of iconic personalities, mesmerizing folk dances, and the vibrant traditions of Southern India.
This enriching experience not only deepened their understanding of India’s diverse cultural heritage but also fostered a sense of pride and unity. πŸŒπŸ’–
Here’s to the boundless potential of young minds and their journey of discovery with the Lighthouse Programme!

πŸ“–βœ¨The Bhavishya Yaan Literature Festival 2024 concluded with an inspiring and joyous finale at the GK Marg School, wrapping up a memorable Diwali Camp focused on celebrating the genius of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
🌟 A Day of Learning and Expression:
The students proudly showcased their newfound knowledge of Tagore’s life and works, sharing insights on his timeless stories like Kabuliwala and When Wishes Come True. Their enthusiasm for Tagore’s legacy was palpable, turning the event into a true celebration of literature.
🎢
The day opened with a mesmerizing dance by Std. 6 students to the original Bengali rendition of Bharat Bhagya Vidhata.
This was followed by a trilingual performance of Ekla Chalo Re by students of Standards 6 and 8, blending languages seamlessly to convey the song’s profound meaning.
Std. 5 students took the stage with a soulful dance to Ekla Chalo Re, leaving the audience spellbound.
The highlight was a heartfelt skit based on Kabuliwala, where students delivered dialogues with incredible skill and emotion.

The day ended on a lighter note with a delightful recitation of Tagore’s humorous poem Sunday, bringing smiles and laughter to all present.

The Literature Festival concluded with a prize distribution, honouring students who excelled during the camp, followed by a feast of delicious snacks.
At Bhavishya Yaan, we believe in nurturing a love for literature and creativity, empowering young minds to explore, learn, and shine. ✨

Recently, our Club celebrated the spirit of Diwali with the vibrant street children of the Salaam Baalak Centre at Chowpatty.

Members of Rotary Club of Bombays’ Child Welfare Committee brought the festive joy alive with crackers, sweet treats, milkshakes, chocolates, and an abundance of chips!

The event was filled with warmth as Committee Chairman, Rtn. Vandan Shah, and Co-Chair, Rtn. Rajesh Shah, engaged with the children, asking them about the daily nutrition provided by RCB.
The children shared stories of how much they cherish the hot meals RCB provides, often their only filling meal of the day. Their smiles and laughter lit up the gathering as they danced and enthusiastically shared stories of their lives.
Members of the Satellite Club, Suditi and Meha Shah, along with Rtn. Ami Jagtiani, distributed treats, while Rtn. Meher Vakil brought 500 snack packs to keep the Diwali cheer going for the whole month. Meher also discussed new ways to enhance the children’s nutrition through breakfast and evening snacks, making plans for an even brighter future.

Adding to the joy, the children enjoyed learning about America from Rotary Partner Matt, whose presence made the day even more special.
A heartfelt afternoon spent with 45 amazing children, this event was a reminder of the difference a caring community can make. Our thanks to the trustees of Salaam Baalak Centre for their hospitality and for creating a warm, welcoming space for this beautiful Diwali celebration.
