The Rotary Club of Bombay (RCB)ย is one of the pioneers in India of the rotary movement, devoted to the ideal of Fellowship through service. It was founded on March 19, 1929 and is the second oldest club in India. RCB today sustains dozens of community servive projects that have touched millions of lives.

On 3rd December 2024, the Rotary Club of Bombay hosted an engaging discussion on "Redevelopment Madness in Mumbai." The event brought together industry stalwarts and experts for an insightful dialogue moderated by Rtn. Pranay Vakil, retired Chairman of Knight Frank (India) Pvt. Ltd.
The esteemed panel featured Rtn. Ishraq Contractor, Partner at C.N.K. and Associates LLP, Rtn. Vivek Kothari, Director of KBK Group, and Mr. Dhaval Vussonji, Managing Partner at DV Associates. They shared their perspectives on the rapid transformation of Mumbaiโs skyline, its opportunities, and the challenges it presents.

The Lighthouse students from classes 1 to 5 had an unforgettable visit to the Paradox Museum! ๐๏ธโจ From the moment they entered, the striking architecture and mind-bending exhibits captivated everyone. The museumโs interactive displays, filled with optical illusions and puzzles, made learning fun and engaging! ๐งฉ๐
Children were mesmerized as they explored the thought-provoking exhibits, while adults marveled at the creative designs and advanced technology. It was an experience that sparked curiosity and left everyone inspired! ๐

On November 14, 2024, the young minds of GK Marg School from classes 3rd and 4th took their first step into the world of democracy with a fun and educational Class Monitor Election!
The day started with an engaging discussion about the voting process and the importance of democratic principles. With two enthusiastic candidates running for the coveted position of class monitor, the excitement was palpable as the students lined up to cast their votes. ๐ฆ๐ง๐ณ๏ธ
Under the guidance of volunteers, a smooth and orderly voting booth experience was created. Once the votes were cast, the children enthusiastically took part in counting the votes, anxiously awaiting the big announcement. ๐๐
When the winner was declared, cheers and celebrations filled the room! This interactive activity not only made learning about democracy fun but also instilled a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and the value of every vote.

We continue to make significant strides in the field of education through our robust Scholarship Committee, led by PP Preeti Mehta and Rtn. Alok Sekhsaria. We recently organized a special event at the IMC for 144 Rotary scholars, with 90 scholars attending to celebrated a shared commitment to academic excellence and empowerment.
The highlight was the announcement of an innovative mentorship program, launched in collaboration with the NGO Claylab Education Foundation. This initiative aims to pair each scholar with a mentor possessing expertise in their chosen field of interest, ensuring that their academic and professional journeys are guided by experienced hands. Several RCB Rotarians enthusiastically signed up as mentors, embodying the clubโs dedication to shaping future leaders.
The event also served to recognise the generous donors whose contributions have made these scholarships a reality. Among the esteemed attendees were Mrs. Jeroo Lam and Rtn. Niloufer Lam, who addressed the students, inspiring them with words of encouragement and hope. Their unwavering support highlights the importance of partnerships in driving meaningful change.
A competition for scholars was announced, wherein participants will present on a predetermined topic. The winners will receive state-of-the-art laptops, generously donated by the Saurashtra Trust, a part of the Janmabhoomi Trusts. This initiative not only fuels healthy competition but also equips students with essential tools to excel in their studies.

๐ An Unforgettable Day of Sailing: Bhavishya Yaan Alumni Take to the Mumbai Coastline ๐
On November 19, 2024, the Royal Bombay Yacht Club (RBYC), in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bombay, hosted a sailing experience for 35 alumni from 6 Bhavishya Yaan schools. Sponsored by Safari Bags and supported with goodies from GobbleRight, this initiative aimed to introduce these young minds to the joys and aspirations of sailing while fostering teamwork and curiosity.
The event was planned by RBYC President Ramesh Venkat, Vice Commodore Viraf Hansotia, and RCB Hon. Sec. Akhil Sanghi, with President Satyan Israni and Rtn. Mehul Sampat flagging off the boats, and Rtn. Amee Tanna joining the children on the waters.
โจ The day began with a warm welcome, snacks, and a safety briefing by expert sailors and volunteers at RBYC. Ten boats set sail from the iconic Gateway of India, manned by skilled sailors, including Arjuna Awardee Homi Motivala, Veteran Bejon Madon, and Bakhtiyar Vajifdar, along with junior sailors Freyan Driver, Aarya Raote, Luv Sakpal, and Shivansh Pandya, inspiring children nearly their age.
The children were captivated by the open sea, gentle waves, and Mumbaiโs coastline, with a magical sunset serving as the perfect backdrop.
๐ After the sail, the alumni returned to the RBYC Sailing Room, where they were gifted Safari bags filled with books and goodies (organized by Rtn. Laxmi Meneklal) and enjoyed refreshments.
For many participants, this was a firstโa moment of inspiration and newfound dreams. The children shared stories of their adventure, bonded with their helms, and even expressed interest in learning to sail, marking the day as not just recreational but aspirational and educational.
This impactful project was made possible through the collaboration of RBYC, Rotary Club of Bombay, and NGO BalGokulam, underscoring the transformative power of community partnerships. Such initiatives showcase RCBโs unwavering commitment to creating meaningful, life-changing experiences for children. ๐

On Sunday, 10th November, the Rotary Club of Bombay hosted the Seventh Edition of its much-loved Table Tennis Fellowship at the YMCA, Colaba. The energy was infectious as 28 Rotarians and their kin came together for a day filled with sportsmanship and camaraderie. ๐
The action-packed day saw fierce yet friendly matches that ended with Sanjiv Saran Mehra & Sushil Chandiramani crowned as champions, followed by Anand Dalal & Advay (son of Akhil Sanghi) as runners-up.
