On the 8th of October, the Rotary Club of Bombay had the privilege of exploring the rich heritage held within the Asiatic Society’s Conservation Laboratory. πŸ›οΈ Our Rotarians were given an exclusive tour of the lab, where centuries-old books and mapsβ€”some dating back to the 17th and 18th centuriesβ€”undergo meticulous restoration. πŸ•°οΈπŸ“œ
Guided by Mr. Sunil Bhirud, the Rare Books and Paper Conservator at the Asiatic Society, our members witnessed the intricate process of conserving these invaluable pieces of global history. 🌍 Each book and map reflects the legacy of our shared human heritage.
We are proud to share that the renovation of this conservation lab was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bombay a few years ago. Since then, hundreds of books and maps have been carefully restored, ensuring their stories live on for generations to come. πŸ“–πŸ”
Rotary’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage is an enduring testament to our mission of service beyond self. πŸ’« Kudos to our Heritage, Art & Culture Committee! πŸ‘

Last week, Rotary Club of Bombay’s new banner was proudly presented by Rtn. Peter Born to Governor Dr. Ernst Hanisch (District 1820) and Prof. Dr. Anne Bohnenkamp-Renken, President of Rotary Club Frankfurt am Main-Staedel.

This special occasion marked a symbolic exchange, further strengthening the bond between the two clubs. Rtn. Peter Born, who was once a Charter Member of RC Frankfurt-Staedel, reflected on the club’s founding nearly 30 years ago.

The presentation celebrated both clubs' shared values of service and fellowship, emphasizing the lasting relationships built through Rotary’s global network.

At Bhavishya Yaan, we believe in not only providing academic skills but also in nurturing life lessons that shape the future of our students. As part of this structured program, now in its 15th year, Bhavishya Yaan continues its mission to uplift underprivileged children from municipal schools by offering comprehensive training in Spoken English, Computer Literacy, and essential Life Skills.
Recently, students from N.M. Joshi Marg Municipal Secondary School took part in an interactive session focused on letting go, inspired by Ganpati Visarjan. Through reflective discussions, students from classes 9 and 10 explored the power of releasing negative habits and unrealistic expectations. Meanwhile, classes 5 to 8 participated in a balloon game that emphasized teamwork and mutual support, reinforcing the idea that helping others doesn’t diminish one’s own success.
Our holistic approach, incorporating both modern audio-visual tools and traditional teaching methods, helps reduce school dropout rates, better prepares these children for higher education, and increases their employment opportunities.
This session was just one example of how Bhavishya Yaan is shaping the lives of these young individuals, equipping them not just with academic knowledge but with the emotional and social skills needed for a brighter future.

The Rotary Club of Bombay shares a special bond with many clubs worldwide, all thanks to our shared founder, James Wheeler Davidson. Meeting fellow #JWD clubs always feels like a reunion!
We were thrilled when our member, Rtn. Christopher Bluemel, took the time during his recent travels to visit the historic Rotary Club of Athens/Athinai, which, like us, has a rich legacy, having been founded on December 28th, 1928.
Rtn. Bluemel was warmly welcomed by the Athens Club members, embracing the Rotary tradition of hospitality and fellowship. The exchange of club flags symbolized the friendship and shared commitment to service that unites us all.
This visit not only strengthened international Rotary ties but also celebrated the enduring spirit of service and camaraderie that binds us across borders. 🌍🀝

In a world where life can be unfair, where struggles seem endless, and where darkness often overshadows the light, we believe in the power of hope, kindness, and service to others. When we extend a helping hand, we create a path for happiness, for strength, and for a better tomorrow. Together, through compassion and love, we can lift each other up.
This Dussehra, let's commit to defeating the evils of injustice, despair, and hardship with the light of service, hope, and goodness. Wishing you all a Happy Dussehra filled with peace, joy, and the spirit of giving.

At the Rotary Club of Bombay, we believe in nurturing the next generation through our Interact Clubs, helping students build a foundation not just in academics but also in mental wellness and responsible digital habits. In today's fast-paced, tech-driven world, the effects of screen addiction and the pressures of online life weigh heavily on our youth, making it essential to address these issues head-on. πŸ’»πŸ“±
Recently, our Avenue for Mental Health and Addiction Prevention hosted a crucial session on "Digital De-addiction and Cyber Safety" for the 9th-grade Interact students at Sir JJ Girls' High School, Fort. With 70 students in attendance, the session delved into important topics like managing screen time, cyberbullying awareness, and staying safe online. 🧠✨
Our session didn't stop at the surface. We explored deeper issues like social media addiction, excessive gaming, and the rise of online gambling, sparking interactive discussions among the students. Their engagement showed us how vital it is to equip young minds with the tools to navigate the digital world with mindfulness and responsibility. πŸ§‘β€πŸ’»πŸ’‘
This initiative is a reflection of Rotary Club of Bombay’s commitment to promoting mental health and digital well-being, empowering the youth to face the challenges of today’s connected world with confidence and resilience. 🌱🌍
