President’s Message

Dear Friends,

Very Warm Greetings!

It was a pleasure meeting Ms. Minal Bajaj and her family last Tuesday. Ms. Bajaj’s passion for serving India’s less fortunate, which not only includes various activities of the very reputed Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation as its Honorary Director since 2009, but also, her leadership role beyond the Foundation to sports, art and cultural initiatives, and instituting “Hamaara Sapna”, for the upliftment of marginalised urban women, are truly admirable. She was the perfect candidate for one of our Club’s prestigious awards the “Anita Parikh Empowerment of Women Award”. Congratulations Ms. Minal Bajaj for this well-deserved award and honouring our RCB.

December is one of my favorite months of the year, as may be for many, if not the most favorite. I think about the holiday season, seeing everyone’s creativity come out with their holiday decorations, the winter fashions and the cheerful giving that many participate in. December is a month of unity. It’s a month of forgiveness, it’s a month of peace, it’s a month of charity, it’s a month of creativity, and the list goes on.

December is also a month of planning. Many people plan their successes and make resolutions for the next year. As the new year is right around the corner, everyone is preparing. The new year often presents a new beginning for many. December gives us all an opportunity to look over the past year, introspect and plan out our next year. Ring out the old and ring in the new. And while talking about December, I recall a few lines written by my dear friend Medha-

A new chapter in life waiting in the wings.
New questions to be asked, answers to be discovered & incorporated.

Hope lurks on the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering: ‘it will be happier’.

As the old year retires and a new one is born,
We commit into the hands of our Creator:

The happenings of the past year,
Ask for direction and guidance in the new one –
May He grant us His tranquility, grace and wisdom!
The New Year, is a blank book as of now,
– Write a good one folks!

So, friends, as the year draws to its end, let’s end it on positive notes and rejoice over our achievements but keep nourishing ourselves with love, kindness and healthy thoughts to welcome 2020 – and do remember our motto, “Service Above Self”.

Merry Christmas and warm regards,
Preeti Mehta
