Bhavishya Yaan: SPARSH Educating on Child Sexual Abuse

GK Marg School, Lower Parel

On November 26th, 2024, a SPARSH session on the prevention of child sexual abuse was held at Ganpatrao Kadam Marg Municipal School, Lower Parel West, under the RCB Bhavishya Yaan programme. The session was led by Zainab Lokhandwalla of the Inner Wheel Club of Bombay and facilitated by Ms Ekta Shah. The session was attended by 57 children, boys and girls aged 5–8, along with three teachers and three mothers of the students. The children displayed remarkable engagement, answering all quiz questions from the PowerPoint presentation correctly and responding with impressive speed and enthusiasm.

Interacting with the young participants proved deeply rewarding. The Inner Wheel Club of Bombay aims to continue such impactful initiatives to educate and empower children of different age groups, reinforcing the importance of awareness and prevention in ensuring their safety

Byculla East Municipal School

The Inner Wheel Club of Bombay, represented by Zainab Lokhandwalla and Inner Wheel District Zone 1 Sparsh Coordinator Pooja Kothari, conducted two impactful sessions on Friday, November 22nd, 2024, at Byculla East Municipal School. These sessions, organised under the Bhavishya Yaan project and facilitated by Ms Rashmi, aimed to raise awareness about the prevention of child sexual abuse.

The presentations utilised an engaging online model, featuring clear audio and pictorial explanations, making the content accessible and easy for students to comprehend.

The first session catered to 30 senior girl students, accompanied by three teachers. The second session was attended by around 35 younger students, including both girls and boys.

The enthusiastic response and active participation from the children highlighted the credibility and significance of the programme. This initiative reinforced the pressing need to continue such educational efforts to safeguard children and raise awareness on this critical issue.
