Inner Wheel Supports District Rural Programme

The Inner Wheel Club of Bombay, with Rashna Cooper as President, is a major contributor to District 3140’s Rural Development Programme covering 40 economically backward villages near Panvel, providing infrastructure, drinking water, sanitation, fodder and so on. The Club also supports 227 children at the Ashramshala Tribal School under the aegis of the Balvantraj Mehta Panchayatraj Jagruti Kendra, Shantivan. Club members visited the project site on August 24 for the inauguration of a water tank at the school by the District Chairman, Dr. Sandhya Bhat. The children delighted the visitors with their performances on environmental awareness and Raksha Bandhan celebrations. Back in Bombay, the Inner Wheel Club donated an EEG machine to the paediatric ward of the Tata Memorial Hospital though a generous donation by PDC Jyoti Doshi. Present at the handing over were District Chairman Dr. Sandhya Bhat, Inner Wheel President Rashna and other members. The new machine will help save time and money in the treatment of impoverished young cancer patients.
