A Step Towards Clean Water: Arsham Hirani’s Initiative
Arsham Hirani, a 12th-grade student from the Cathedral and John Connon School, embarked on a commendable project to assess the potability of water in disadvantaged areas of Mumbai.
Dissatisfied with the results of his lab tests, Arsham felt compelled to take action.
Through dedicated fundraising efforts, he aimed to provide safe and clean drinking water to underprivileged schoolchildren. To maximise his impact, Arsham partnered with the Water Resources Committee of the Rotary Club of Bombay.
The project led to the successful installation of water purifiers and coolers at multiple locations across Mumbai. The beneficiary sites included:
1. Government ITI, Mulund
2. Dyan Mandir Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Powai
3. Rishi Valmiki Eco School, Goregaon
4. Vivek Vidyalaya School, Vikhroli
5. Post Office, Malabar Hill
This joint initiative brought together the Rotary Club of Bombay and four other Rotary Clubs: Chandivali, Mumbai Mulund South, Bombay Chembur West, and JVPD Mumbai.
The installations were well-organised and attended by President Satyan Israni, PDG Sandip Agarwalla, Rtn. Anand Parikh, Rtn. Siddharth Bhimrajka, PP Vineet Bhatnagar, Rtn. Akhil Sanghi, PE Bimal Mehta, Rtn. Hiranmay Biswas, Rtn. Akil Hirani, Rtn. Ptn. Berryl Hirani, and Arsham Hirani, alongside members of the partnering Rotary clubs and school staff.
Arsham’s efforts, supported by the Rotary Club of Bombay, reflect the power of collaboration in addressing critical issues. This project stands as a shining example of youth-led change and community impact.
