Adult Literacy And Alcohol Eradication Programmes For Vaidu Community
AFTER THE OPENING EVENT OF RCB’S ALCOHOL ERADICATION PROGRAMME FOR THE VAIDU COMMUNITY on July 13th, 2022, daily classes began with Anum Foundation volunteers present at the centres from 2 to 4 pm from Monday to Friday, at both Jogeshwari and Marol centres.
Also present were volunteers from Alcohol Anonymous, AL ANON FAMILY GROUPS, Holy Family AGF, and Jeevan Jyoti ÀFG who visited the centre to motivate groups from the community. The timetable for men is 6 to 8 pm and for women timetable is from 3 to 4 pm.
The Vaidu community thanks Rotary Club of Bombay and Rotary Club of Addiction Prevention. Without your support this wonderful initiative would not have happened. (LEFT) Surekha Somesh Bharkud is a wood-cutter and does seasonal jobs. Her husband is jobless and he drinks. She is victim of domestic violence. But Surekha plays a positive leadership role in her community. She is honest, and asks questions without fear. She wants to learn more and also be able to teach her children.
(LEFT) Vaibhavi Shirke is adaptive, resilient, and accepting of feedback from others. She has a positive leadership role in her community and actively participates in conversation. She has the ability to help others and is consistent despite her work as a housemaid. Her enthusiasm motivates others to be part of adult literacy classes.
