During the weekly meeting of Rotary Club of Bombay on November 29th, 2022, President Vineet Bhatnagar made a brief presentation on the visit by the Sports Committee to Prakash Padukone – Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence (PDCSE) in Bangalore on November 12th, 2022.

The Centre and the Academy are formed with the sole purpose of encouraging the youth to reach the highest international standards for all sports and this year, India, under the academy’s coach Vimal Kumar, won the coveted World Title, the Thomas Cup for Badminton. To keep up these high standards, it is very necessary to have the best training equipment and experienced coaches.

At RCB weekly’s meeting, President Vineet made an OPEN APPEAL to the members of our Club to support the certain badminton-specific gym equipment that CSE is presently lacking in their gym.

This equipment is essential for the national training centre of Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) as it is immensely useful for providing comprehensive S&C support the training of our top badminton players.

The cost of all four pieces works out to (including GST) approx Rs 17 lakh. RCB already has commitment of Rs 6 lakh from our members so we are still seeking an additional support of Rs 11 lakh from our members.

President Vineet believes that RCB should explore ways to support the youth of our country who can bring pride and glory to India in the area of sports. He is very pleased that under the chairperson Moy Biswas, Sports Committee is taking the first step with Prakash Padukone Academy.

RCB donors who would like to contribute for the above cause which is undoubtedly worthy, and makes a difference to the sports careers of our youth from underprivileged backgrounds, should contact President Vineet directly.
