Bhavishya Yaan changes yet another life
An alumna of GK Marg will soon become a teacher and someday we hope that she is given an opportunity to come back to teach at GK Marg!
Manjari Shirodkar has been selected for teacher’s training at Muktangan for the ECD course which is affiliated to Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
It is a three year degree course and involves intense training to become a teacher. She will then be inducted as a teacher at Muktangan.
Around 200 students applied for the same course. Her knowledge of English, which she picked up while at Bhavishya Yaan and the will to dive into unknown territory, again because of the life skills and exposures at BY, helped her to get through among the 25 chosen ones.
Muktanagan is an NGO which helps empower women of the community. They train these women to teach students all subjects in English medium BMC schools.
It started in 2003 in one BMC school and by 2007 it set up 7 additional BMC schools in south Bombay. It has been working for the past 14 years in the education field with 3597 students and developed 774 teachers till date.
