Bhavishya Yaan Gets Cultural

Akshara Foundation of Arts and Learning launched their programme “Arts for All – At the Theatre”. A year long programme, Arts for All – At the Theatre focuses on providing children from NGO supported schools’ engagement in theatre with workshops and age-appropriate performances. Our educational partner VIDYA has tied up with them for having their students participate over the course of the year 2017-2018.

We thank Ms. Manisha and Vidya foundation for organising bus, snacks and play tickets for Bhavishya Yaan children. A total of 104 students and 10 teachers from worli (40 students), NMJ (43 students+4 teachers) and GK marg (21 students+2 teachers) were invited to watch the play Ripples.

The show was best suited for students of 8-10th grade. The play was in English, with a smattering of Marathi, and the theme was ‘Indian Education System’. Since the show was entirely written and run by young artists, the students met some artists post the show. It was a good opportunity for our students to meet with these artists who are young, and not so far removed from their situation. We had preshow workshops at all three centres on 6th Sep, 2017 where students were explained about different types of theatre, screenplay, lights, sound, scripts, plot and dialogue, etc. Students were exposed to the production part. Sep 15th we shall have a post workshop meeting to discuss the play and feed back in detail with Akshara Foundation.
