By Celebrates an Inspiring Educator, Mrs. Yamgekar
On December 4th, 2025, Mrs. Sumitra Yamgekar, Primary Principal, attended the IDOL Teachers’ Workshop held in Sambhaji Nagar, where she engaged with educators dedicated to the holistic development of students, including those in remote areas. Deeply inspired by these interactions, she reaffirmed her commitment to the progress of students of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, while acknowledging the constant guidance of her G/D Division colleagues and the invaluable support of the Bhavishya Yaan Institute.
In recognition of her outstanding contribution, Mrs. Yamgekar was selected as an “Idol Teacher” under a prestigious Government of Maharashtra initiative. From nearly 7.5 lakh teachers, only 10 teachers from different BMC schools were chosen, making this achievement truly exceptional. Mrs. Yamgekar received the award from the Education Minister on December 4th, 2025.
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Bombay and Bhavishya Yaan, she was felicitated with a bouquet of flowers and chocolates on December 13th, 2025, celebrating her dedication, inspiration and exemplary service to education.
