BY GK MARG ENHANCES VOCAB IN LITERATURE CAMP BY RCHC
The two-day camp began with Rotractors of Hinduja College distributing diaries and a short session on public speaking where we discussed key elements of effective communication, such as body language, eye contact, hand gestures, and voice clarity. Students then introduced themselves and shared their hobbies, practising public speaking immediately.
They explained the process of writing a story by providing examples, then gave the students a starting line for their stories. Each student crafted their own narrative, complete with a title and moral. Some students confidently presented their stories to the class. To conclude, the students were provided with a list of useful English words to enhance their daily communication skills. The session was both interactive and educational, helping students develop their public speaking, creativity, and language abilities.
The second day’s session began with a review of previous lessons, followed by an icebreaker activity where participants took turns saying words, with the next word starting from the last letter of the previous word. Afterwards, the Rotractors introduced the concept of a debate and divided the students into four teams, allowing them time to prepare. Each student participated in the debate, speaking in English. A vocabulary test was conducted on the spot, where students were asked to spell a word and speak on a topic for 30 seconds. This helped improve their spoken English, vocabulary and quick thinking. The session concluded with a comprehension and crossword worksheet, which was explained earlier to ensure understanding. The session was wrapped up by Rtr. Aman Jain, Rtr. Akshita Sonar, Rtr. Fareeha Noor, and Rtr. Ovita D’Souza appreciating everyone’s effort and distributing chocolates as a reward.
