BY Kids Revel at Kidzania

On April 25, 110 Bhavishya Yaan students from Colaba , Byculla and GK Marg Centre were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime experience for their annual picnic to the famous Kidzania – a global indoor theme park located at R-City Mall, Ghatkopar. A family entertainment center for children from the age of four to sixteen, Kidzania is more about infotainment, aimed at enhancing the social and cognitive skills of children by operating like a real city, builtto- scale for children, comprising paved roads, cars, city buildings, recognizable establishments, a functioning economy and its own currency!

The BY children were ecstatic and could see more than sixty real-world establishments (Yes Bank, Amity University, Coca-Cola, The Times of India, DHL, etc.) and participated in over thirty activities which simulated the experience of real-life skills. They performed jobs as a stylist, fireman, radio jockey, surgeon, dentist , nursing , beautician and many more. Kidzania gave the children an opportunity to play adult roles by allowing them to emulate, re-enact and participate in adult activities and experiences. The BY children also experienced local establishments like the Bollywood Acting Academy, Pottery Studio and the Dabbawalla service (boxed lunch delivery) and immensely enjoyed the act of pretending to pack and deliver tiffins! They even got paid for the jobs they did in Kidzania currency, and from the same earnings they bought accessories from the allocated departmental stores. Playing the Pretty Dabbawalas at Kidzania Young Beauticians at Work! Enacting a surgery in the OT!

The children had a wonderful time and experience. They enjoyed themselves thoroughly and performed each task with enthusiasm . It was a good method to be exposed to various occupations and feel the satisfaction of earning. They were happily surprised to see working models of so many things under one roof with air conditioning and loud music which kept them peppy and happy. They also fully enjoyed the snacks which were beautifully decorated and served to them.
