Christmas Treat For AY

THE ROTARACT CLUB OF ISME COLLEGE (RCISME) COLLABORATED WITH THE ROTARY CLUB OF BOMBAY AND DIGNITY FOUNDATION TO CONDUCT A TWO-DAY CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP FOR OUR SENIOR CITIZENS OF ANANDA YAAN.

Called Jashn-E-Christmas, the first day (December 15, 2020) saw RCISME teach AY members how to make Santa caps and colourful bracelets. This was our elderly members’ first virtual art and craft class on Zoom.
All warmed up, they were then taught a few dance steps to be performed at the next day’s Christmas party. Each participant received a candle and a Christmas gift.

The Christmas party was held on December 16, 2020. 172 senior citizens participated from across the Dignity Centres and the event was well-attended by Rotarians, RCB Lighthouse parents and friends.

AY members wore the Santa caps made by them and friendly greetings were exchanged by all. PP Ramesh Narayan, Rtn. Ptn. Devi Narayan, IPP Preeti Mehta, Chairman Rtn Madhusudan Daga, Rtn. Ptn. Vandana Daga, Rtn. Ptn. Ekta Shah, co-Chair Rtn. Vrinda Rajgarhia appreciated RCISME for the effort and enthusiasm that it infuses into every event it organises. Rtn. Christopher Bluemel, who has been AY’s designated Santa Claus since AY began, hosted the party this year, too.

RCISME performed a live skit about the meaning of Christmas, following which they lit up a tree for the elders. Everyone then sang carols. RCISME’s in-house magician Shrey Kothari entertained the audience by performing out a few tricks.

The evening began to wind down with a lighting of candles that RCISME had provided to everyone before the party. With more than 80 people lighting an equal number of candles, a warm glow spread out across their collective Zoom screens.
Lastly, everyone danced to the title track from the film Om Shanti Om which had been taught to them the previous day with Rotarians and other audience members joining in.

Chairman Madhusudan Daga thanked Rtn. Christopher Bluemel and the RCISME team with a special mention for the Organising Committee comprising: Rtrs. Riya Jain, Dhwani Shah, Sakshi Chauhan, Avisha Pokharna, Yash V Shah, Mahima Kochar, Payal Rupani, Yash J Shah, Dishti Doshi, Janvi Kela, Khushboo Ranka, Lokesh Sheth, Gurjas Singh, Ishita Malde, Fiza Sheikh, Bhakti Parwani, and Aashka Oberoi.
