Data-wise, the centre may not have done well this year due to Covid. However, it did not close down and worked non-stop in a total 68 lockdown days and even during the partial lockdown, taking care of all emergencies who visited the centre. They were emergency cases.

Footfalls had come back close to pre-Covid levels by December 2020. In fact, we were planning an operative session in April 2021 after taking due permission from district authorities but we could not do so as the guest house for doctors was not ready.

Then, the second covid wave struck us badly, this time more here (rural area).

  • A total of 9049 patients were treated at PRVEC from July 2020 to March 2021.
  • All the treatment rendered to patients at PRVEC is totally FREE OF COST.
  • On behalf of the entire committee, I would like to thank PP Rtn. Dr. Rahim Muljiani, PP Rtn. Dr. Rumi Jehangir, Rtn. Dr. Priyanka Doctor, Dr. Anil Deshpande & the supporting staff for smooth and efficient running of the centre.

The staff has been engaged in maintenance like generator painting, 40 cots, 9 instrument trolleys, 8 IV stands, 8 patients trolleys, waste disposal stands, weight recording machine, 6 gas cylinders trolleys, wherever required, replacement of caster wheels and its greasing. Black painting of structural iron beams columns and patients sitting benches in the OPD area. 40 new patients mattress covers, and its repairs, 60 face surgical masks, caps, eye towels, and 50 new bedsheets. Cementing of rough flooring in front of generator and patients’ toilet block and other places with erosions and cracks. Anti-white ant liquid is being sprayed in affected areas and plastic covers are being put up for the monsoon.

The data of two years should not be compared numerically but for the medical services provided when all other NGO eye hospitals were closed due to non-availability of medical staff including a medical college that was 18 km away from Talwada.
