Bhavishya Yaan XI vs President’s XI
On a cool, windy and crisp winter morning of February 5th, Wednesday, the Bhavishya Yaan XI took on the Rotary Club of Bombay President’s XI for the Eighth Annual Cricket Fellowship at the P.J. Hindu Gymkhana, situated along the iconic Marine Drive.
The cricket match was organised by Jimmy Vakharia, Chairman, along with Avaan, mentor of Worli School of the Bhavishya Yaan Committee and Satyan Israni and Moy Biswas of the Sports Committee of Rotary Club of Bombay.
It was a tremendous success, with several non-cricketer Rotarians being present even this being a working day of the week, both to enjoy the game and to watch enthusiastic cricketers turn out in whites to play the gentleman’s game.

President’s XI :
Samir Mogul, Satyan Israni, Hoshang Nazir, Sanjiv Saran, Macy Khubchandani, Akhil Sanghi, Vivek Himatsingka, Mehul Sampat, Murad Currawalla, Anand Dalal and Moy Biswas.
All nine players from RCB and 18 from Bhavishya Yaan Committee, along with the coordinators were present by 9 am. The captains walked out for the toss and it was President Preeti Mehta who spun the coin high up in the air. The toss was won by RCB President’s XI, which elected to field in the belief that the conditions were ideal for swing and seam bowling.
Put into bat, the Bhavishya Yaan boys walked out to bat with supreme confidence. But with brilliant bowling by President’s XI they were unable to score more than 90 runs in 20 overs. Thereafter the President’s XI’s impressive batting got them cruising home with 5 wickets and 3 overs to spare.
The common thread running through the match and what held together was Moy’s meticulous planning and constant supervision to make sure that all the activities of the event take place as per the schedule.
Amongst the enthusiastic and cheering spectators were Past Presidents Arun Sanghi and Ramesh Narayan, President Elect Fali Mehta, President Preeti Mehta and Honorary Secretary Manish Reshamwala, along with Bhavishya – Yaan Committee members Madhusudan Daga, Rajesh Shah, S V Prasad and other Rotarians Ajit Lalwani, Dilip Dalal, Alok Sekhsaria, Jimmy Vakharia and Mentors Avaan Vakharia, Priyanka Jatia, Jaya Prasad and Beena Yargop.
We had with us former Indian Test Cricketer Yajurvindra (Sunny) Singh who honoured us by being the Chief Guest for the match. He played 4 test matches for India and coholds 2 Test fielding records: 5 catches in an innings and 7 in a match.We also had Kaushik Roy, President, Brand Strategy & Marketing Communication, Reliance Industries Limited joining us for the event.
President Preeti Mehta along with the Chief Guest Yajurvindra (Sunny) Singh and Moy presented mementoes to all the players of both the teams.
The ‘Man of the Match’ prize was awarded to Abhishek Yadav of Bhavishya Yaan XI for scoring maximum runs. The prize was a cricket kit sponsored by Satyan Israni. Hampers were also distributed to all the Bhavishya Yaan boys by Sanjiv
Saran.
Moy brought the curtain down on the event by thanking Deepak Kapadia for his in valuable contribution in arranging all the facilities at the P.J. Hindu Gymkhana. He also thanked the President and all the other office bearers of the club for their encouragement, support and motivation which ensured the success of this event of the Rotary year.
