Day Care for the Elderly in Alibaug

A few years ago, I visited San Francisco, where I stayed with my childhood friend. Every weekday he would drop his children to school and his elder mom-in-law to a day care centre for elders in the morning and pick them up in the
evening.

In the evening at the dinner table, she would be so happy and tell us stories of all that she did, whom all she met, stories from the lives of others, etc.

When I returned to India, I asked RCB if we could take up such a project. RCB immediately agreed, and we started scouting for land in Khandala and Alibaug to be given to us by the local authorities. I was lucky to get the nod from the Sarpanch in Awas Village, Alibaug. We budgeted a cost of Rs 90 lakh. Our (Late) PP Nalin Parikh magnanimously agreed to sponsor a Rs 25 lakh contribution in memory of his respected father. PP Paul George had a fundraiser during his presidentship and raised Rs 60 lakh for the project.

The land allotment took a while and, finally, it came through last year.

We have completed 80 per cent of the work and hope to complete the project by November 2021. These are recent
pictures of the finishing stages of the project.
