Green wisdom unveiled for BY kids at Colaba and NMJ schools

A collaborative effort by B.D.L. Museum Byculla, Mumbai, and STEAM Academy brought forth an enlightening Zoom session on medicinal plants for students of Bhavishya Yaan Colaba and N. M. Joshi Marg. Conducted by Ms. Jasvinder Kaushal, the workshop catered to students from classes 3 to 7.
The session commenced with an introduction by Ms. Ruchika and Dr. A.P. Jayrakar, delving into the museum’s significance. Ms. Kaushal then passionately explored the world of plants, distinguishing herbs, shrubs, and roots. Engaging with students through questions, she highlighted the importance of turmeric, neem, tulsi, aloe vera, peppermint, ginger, nigella, moringa oleifera, and tephrosia purpurea.
Through the clever use of jokes and short stories, Ms. Kaushal elaborated on the properties and uses of each plant, captivating the students’ attention. The informative session emphasised the therapeutic value of medicinal plants, encouraging active participation from the students.
