INTERACT CLUB OF SIR J.J. GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL

On January 3rd, 2025, the Rotary Club of Bombay, in collaboration with PETA India, hosted an engaging session featuring Elle, Asia’s first robotic educational elephant. Organised by Ms Waheeda Shaikh, the event aimed to raise awareness about animal welfare and was attended by approximately 1,100 students from Sir J.J. Girls’ High School, Sett R.J.J. Primary School, and Sir J.J. Boys’ School.

Held in the AV Room from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, the session highlighted the challenges faced by animals due to human actions. Meenakshi Narang, PETA India’s Children’s Project Coordinator, led the interactive session. Elle shared her story, explaining her rescue from a circus where she endured abuse and injuries. Students learned about empathy and were encouraged to avoid circuses with performing animals, refrain from animal rides, and spread the message to others.

The session ended with a vote of thanks and memorable photos with Elle.
