Lighthouse Explores Space

It’s easy to make our young ones reach for the stars. Spectators watched as children of RCB’s Lighthouse Project
dressed as stars performed the lively Starjump Dance. It was the finale of the Lighthouse K.G. summer camp, held on
April 15th, 2022, and the Starjump Dance was followed by three-year-olds swaying to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

The show ended with four children dressed as a rainbow, star, moon, and sun, confidently explaining their characters in a few lines of English. Around 40 parents attended the event which marked the end of the weeklong camp during which students from classes 1 and 2 were introduced to our solar system and its elements.

Concepts like day/night and rotation/ revolution were also covered to give the children a better understanding of the subject. Meanwhile, older children explored the science of astronomy covering everything from astronomers and space rocks to famous astronauts and the ISS (International Space Station) with a special emphasis on India’s space journey.

The camp ended with an exhibition on April 20th, 2022, where, with the help of charts, models and experiments, students shared what they had learned.

Snacks and juices generously sponsored by Ms. Ishti Agrawal, daughter of Rtn. Charu Agrawal, were handed out to all
participants as they left. Kudos to Ishti for all the effort she put into raising funds for this year-end programme.

Charu and Rtn. Ptn. Ekta Shah attended the finale to hear the Lighthouse students talk about what they had learned through the summer camp.
