President’s Message

NEW YEAR (DECADE), NEW US!

My wish for all of us this year is that we make mistakes.

Because making mistakes means making new things in the form of trying, learning, living, pushing ourselves, changing ourselves, changing the world around us. Do things we’ve never done before, and more importantly, given the year we all have survived by the skin of our teeth, Doing Something!

So, let us make New Mistakes. Glorious, Amazing Mistakes. Mistakes nobody has ever made before. Mistakes that we did not think possible for us to make. The greatest mistake a man can ever make, is to be afraid of making one.

A mistake is a lesson, a temporary detour and most certainly a teacher. Making a mistake shows that you are trying. And remember that people will not judge you for your mistakes, but on how you fix them.

For it is from these mistakes that we learn, get better, appreciate what we have and what we are capable of. Let us not freeze, stop, worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect – whatever the “it” is: art, love, work, family, life….

And let us not forget the famous words of Alexander Pope “to err is human…..”

Whatever it is that scares us the most. Let us do that. So make mistakes, this year, this decade and forever.

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language.

And next year’s words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning.”

(Little Gidding)”
T.S. Eliot
