RCB Hosts First-Ever Bridge Tournament

RCB HISTORY WAS CREATED ON AUGUST 27TH, 2022, WHEN OUR FIRST BRIDGE TOURNAMENT WAS HELD AT THE ROYAL BOMBAY YACHT CLUB. It has been a long-held view that bridge should get included in the annual calendar of sports events conducted by RCB. Encouraged by PP Arun Sanghi and a very willing Sports Committee chair Rtn. Moy Biswas, President Vineet Bhatnagar decided that bridge would be the first event to kick off the activities of the committee this year. The event was led committee member Rtn. Dr. Mehernosh Dotivala.

A short survey had been carried out amongst RCB members earlier this Rotary year to note their sports interests. As the number of members who put down bridge was high, it was decided during the planning stage itself to incubate bridge in RCB in the format of a sports-cum-fellowship morning. “Bridge over Brunch” was the apt title for this event.

Eight pairs played on four tables for approximately two hours. The invitation was extended to RCB partners, parents and a few non-RCB Rotarians. The game was conducted by professional organisers from Bridge Pathshala led by their Director Ravi Varman, Diksha and the scorer Vishwanath. They laid out the tables and the following pairs participated:

President Vineet invited Chief Guest PP Arun Sanghi and Rtn. Moy to say a few words before starting the games. 21 non-participating members of RCB including PP Pradeep Saxena came to support the event and also enjoyed the fellowship over drinks and finger foods. Everyone agreed the sport should find a permanent place on the annual RCB calendar.

Ashok Bhavnani/ Amit Dalal were announced the winning pair and Pankaj Tanna/ Deepak Mehta were declared the runners up.
