RCHR Adopts Five Villages

AASHAYEIN – ADOPT A VILLAGE IS A SOCIAL INITIATIVE TAKEN UP BY THE ROTARACT CLUB OF H.R. COLLEGE, AIMING AT THE HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL VILLAGES IN MAHARASHTRA. THIS PROJECT IS CARRIED OUT IN FIVE DIFFERENT VILLAGES OF THE AHMEDNAGAR DISTRICT. THE KEY AREAS OF FOCUS ARE WATER, LIGHT, EDUCATION, AND SANITATION.

In collaboration with the Watershed Organization Trust (WOTR), RCHR started Boond under which they built 14 wells, four check dams and a number of hand pumps.

Along with the Liter of Light Organisation they have installed more than 150 solar powered lights, including community street lights, study lamps and house lights.

Under the Education & Entrepreneurship, they started ‘Gazab Maharashtra’ under which they aim at educating the youth about entrepreneurship and business studies. Till date, RCHR has funded 60 entrepreneurs with seed capital to set up self-owned and sustainable businesses.

Under the sanitation aspect ‘Pankh’, RCHR has distributed 30 re-usable sanitary kits which can be used upto four to five years and built four community toilets in the villages. They have also conducted workshops with the villagers to teach them the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
