OUR FACE COVERED BY A CLOTH, PROTECTS THEM. THEIR FACE, COVERED BY A CLOTH, PROTECTS US.

The last few months have been extremely difficult for everyone because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The list of essentials has changed and included many new items for one and all. Yet there are many, who cannot afford to buy or make masks to protect themselves from the virus.

The Rotaract Club of Jai Hind College organised Sew To Save, an initiative to make and distribute masks to those who cannot afford them from August 4th, 2020 to August 31st, 2020.

A research for tutorials to make masks was conducted to find the simplest yet most effective video. A promotional message along with details of the project was circulated amongst all social media groups of the club to gather participation for the same.

To add some fun along with community service, the team also scheduled and hosted three Zoom calls over a span of three weeks, where participants could make and design the masks together.

On August 31st, 2020, the handmade masks were donated by the team while ensuring all precautions. The images received by the team about the humble act were posted on the club’s social media handles.

It’s not necessary to collectively take a huge step. A series of tiny steps in the right direction can also bring a huge change. This ideology helped the team carry out such a beautiful project where about 50 masks made from the scratch were donated to those in need.

The team looks forward to organising similar projects for the betterment of the community and in turn, make the world a better place to live in.
