Shot In The Dark
Celebrating the celluloid and encouraging students to bring out their best filmmaking creativity, the Rotaract Club of Jai Hind College hosted its annual Mumbai Students’ Film Festival. The aim was to provide a platform to short film creators and appreciate their art and work. The past years of this event have witnessed some amazing short films by filmmakers from all over Mumbai.
However, the third year of this project witnessed a twist. Due to the pandemic situation, the horizon for the event widened with entries coming from pan-India for better reach.
The participants were supposed to send newly-created or pre-shot films not longer than a ten-minute duration by March 26th, 2021, in any language of their choice. The standard rules of viewers’ discretion advisory minimal NSFW content and original work citations were followed throughout the event. The movies were screened on YouTube live, synced with the Zoom App. Mr. Shardul Apte, the judge of the project, sent the winners congratulations via video.
The competition of the 27 short films including one international entry was feasted upon by all. The response we got was huge and the feedback precious. The day was filled with joy and colour; indeed, the negative of a film reel can lead to positivity!
