Pondicherry, the French capital of India, is a destination that offers serenity and sanctity in its true sense.
This charming town has retained its oldworld charm and comes very close to giving you a feel of the French culture without actually being in France.
Irresistible scenic golden beaches, azure waters and majestic historical attractions make Mahabalipuram a destination that you can never forget. A charming coastal town known for its many stone carved heritage sites, Mahabalipuram also known as Mammallapuram, houses a street dotted with cafes, that serve multiple western cuisines. It leads to a breathtaking oceanfront.
Two fun facts about Pondicherry:
You don’t say thank you. You say merci. Though Tamil, Telegu and Malayalam are the official languages of Pondicherry, the majority of the population speaks French.
Pondicherry is mentioned in Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. A prince named Prince Pondicherry orders Willy Wonka to make chocolate castle in Pondicherry, so he does. But the chocolate castle melts in summer heat.
