Introducing Anand Mahindra, the newest Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Bombay

example.
Among his many social change initiatives is the Nanhi Kali programme which, for over 20 years, has provided over 250,000 underprivileged girls access to quality education. He is Chairman of the Board of the Naandi Foundation, India’s leading NGO educating girls, skilling youth and providing sustainable livelihoods to small farmers through
biodynamic agriculture.
Anand also serves on the Founders Board of The Rise Fund, a US$2 billion impact fund. He is a strong votary of the arts and culture. Mahindra Blues, Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards and Mahindra Sanatkada celebrate and nurture music, theatre culture, art and history in India. He also serves as a Trustee of the Natural History Museum of London and as Chairman, India Advisory Council of the Lincoln Center, New York City.
In 2016, he was appointed Chevalier de l’Ordre national la Légion d’Honneur (Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honour) by the President of the French Republic. In 2014, he became the first Indian recipient of the Harvard Medal by the Harvard Alumni Association given for extraordinary service to Harvard University. Anand graduated from Harvard College in 1977 and secured an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1981.
His tenure at the Mahindra Group has seen it expand domestically and internationally into a range of major industrial sectors from automobiles and agriculture to IT and aerospace.
Anand has served on several influential bodies, both national and international.
These include the Global Board of Advisors of the Council on Foreign Relations, New York, the World Bank Group’s Advisory Board for Doing Business and the International Advisory Council of Singapore’s Economic Development Board.
He co-chaired the Bloomberg Global Business Forum 2017 and is co-hosting the Global Climate Action Summit 2018. He has served as President of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He also served on the Boards of the National Stock Exchange of India and the National Council of Applied Economic Research, as Chairman of the Governing Council of the National Institute of Design and the India Design Council. Anand has been invited by the Central and State Governments to provide his inputs on matters of national importance.
