Rotarians delighted and enlightened by a talk on gender differences
Dr. Gopalakrishnan Pillai
Noted author Dr. Gopalakrishnan Pillai is a national level administrator and world-renowned author with many outstanding publications to his name. He has conducted extensive research on fiscal issues and public governance policies in developing countries. He was empanelled by the Government of India for appointment as the Special Director in BIFR companies
in 2007.
Pillai began the talk by seeking the pardon of all the men in the audience as he then proceeded to call them inferior to women. He admitted to being a ‘shameless admirer of the fairer sex’. “I discovered during my research, that, unfortunately, the male gender is to go extinct. According to a research project based in Japan, women can now reproduce without the help of men. There are multiple scientific facts to explain how the male gender is not a compulsion to human existence.”
Pillai discussed the chauvinistic attitude of men and how suppressing women comes naturally to most men. “Recently, a politician made a public statement saying it is a woman’s fault when she gets raped, for encouraging vulnerable men by dressing provocatively, mannerism and behaviour. This attitude exists in the 21st century too. It is not only for this reason that I believe men to be inferior though. Men are inferior because they have no control. He (man) wants to violate whatever is available to him without thinking of the consequences and the damage caused,” he added.
He took Rotarians and Rotaryannes 300 million years back in history to explain his stance. He explained, “Men had 1,000 Y chromosomes and women, 1,000 X chromosomes. But today, the gentlemen only have about 400 Y chromosomes whereas women have 1,500 X chromosomes. There is a constant war going on between the chromosomes and the winner there is also always women. It’s very important to know that discrimination based on gender is absolutely wrong. There are two classes of human beings, one is informed and one is ignorant. The women are the informed half, as they have more memory, they are sensitive, alert and can go through changing body cycles with ease. They have a sharper brain, which gives them the ability to deal with any situation with expertise, whereas, for a man, only the left side of the brain is more active.”
Pillai asked men to be understanding towards the women in their lives as he believes that understanding is the beginning of a very healthy relationship. “It is a very competitive world and soon, men are going to be unemployed, as women are more efficient and dedicated workers. Men are going to be outsmarted by women and a little understanding now can go a long way for them.”
His honesty was appreciated as Rotarians took his words in good faith and engaged in a healthy dialogue after the speech.
