Rotarians give a vote of thanks at Shukriya Night

RTN. SURESH KOTAK
Rotary’s message of 2018-19 was ‘Be the inspiration.’ Vijayji, you have done so; you have, in fact, Become the inspiration. From being the inspiration to becoming the inspiration is a spiritual journey. It is one that would have needed miles and miles of service, commitment and devotion, qualities which you have shown in plenty throughout the year.

Vijayji, your name is synonymous with victory and victorious you have been. The kind of initiative you have shown has taken Rotary to new heights.

I have a deep appreciation for the work you have done and the way in which you have done it.

The thing that stands out about you is your humility. You don’t take credit but give credit to others. You believe in team work, which is remarkable.

An institution is made great by three things: creating an ‘Image’, creating an ‘Impact’ and earning surpluses or ‘Income’. These three ‘I’s, apart from initiative, are very important. You have done wonderfully in all three areas. I congratulate you for all the good work.

DG SHASHI SHARMA
Vijay has worked with zeal and a focussed approach. Vijay has got five AKS members but I would like to remind him that the word miracle has seven letters so why not try for two more? I appeal to all of you, go and see the hospital where a two-year-old child is being operated upon for paediatric heart surgery. You will realise there is a lot to do. Vijay has bagged the Diamond Award of the District because of the sheer quantum of work he has done at Masina Hospital and everywhere else. Vijay, you have given a wonderful year to your Governor, thank you, my dear friend.

TRF TRUSTEE GULAM VAHANVATY
We are here to recognise the work done by President Vijay, Gauri and the team. The kind of community work he has done and the fellowship, but also the kind of steps he has taken, to follow the six steps of Rotary.

At international events, we get a badge. There are just three lines on it: your name, the club you belong to and your classification. I am, today, very proud to be a member of the Rotary Club of Bombay.

PRID ASHOK MAHAJAN
Vijay, thank you for leading the Rotary Club of Bombay and achieving greater objectives this year. You have made all the Rotarians in your Club and the District experience success and built confidence in them. You have generated energy and commitment in the members. Under your leadership, your Club members were able to focus on the vision of Rotary and you helped them manage challenges and move closer to making this world a peaceful place to live in.

Your trust in your Club members was in direct proportion to your belief that they can share your passion in making the Rotary Club of Bombay a great organisation. You inspired them to build a powerful desire to explore your own talents and capabilities. I have always admired your quality of connecting with people. Members did what you requested them to accomplish because of the connection they felt with you. You helped the Rotarians of your Club to move towards their goals that brought a great deal of joy to everyone . You have had an impact on members beyond what they had thought possible. Your working with passion and conviction made every one feel proud of you.

Your initiatives in many service projects touched my heart and, believe me, I developed an extra interest in some of those projects which were undertaken under your leadership. I can assure you Vijay, all those who really believe in the philosophy of Rotary and wish to see this organisation remain vibrant, respectful and popular amongst policymakers in the community will always remember and appreciate your level of commitment, sincerity and dedication to the cause of Rotary service in general and your contributions towards The Rotary Foundation in particular. Please accept our sincere wishes for a purposeful life as you move forward in your Rotary service activities.

Nayantara joins me congratulating you, and dear Gauri, for your unstinting leadership, your total commitment and all the wonderful achievements under your leadership when your Club was celebrating the 90th year of its existence. We look forward to seeing you rise in the organisation and make a difference.

Indeed, you were the inspiration to all the members of the Rotary Club of Bombay.

The Club will remain indebted to you and remember you for a long time.

All the best!
Ashok Mahajan
