School Wins All The Way

THE ALL-PRESTIGIOUS WASH IN SCHOOLS (WASH STANDS FOR WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE) PROJECT DHAAL HAS MADE SIGNIFICANT HEADWAY IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS. A QUICK RECAP: THE WINS COMMITTEE OF DIST. 3141 UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF DGN SANDIP AGARWALLA UNDER TOOK THE PROJECT TO INSTALL HAND WASH STATIONS (HWS) IN 752 SCHOOLS OF PALGHAR DISTRICT IN MAHARASHTRA.

The Rotary Club of Bombay is covering 600 schools and 775 HWS. A Global Grant of US$ 264,465 has been sanctioned to our Club and our very own Rtn. Dilip Piramal of VIP Industries has contributed generously to support the project whole heartedly.

In spite of all uncertainties and challenges thrown at us during these COVID times, the team has executed the project meticulously and without much delay. Despite the initial production delays at the end of the equipment supplier due to Covid followed by lack of transportation, non-availability of labour and severe monsoon the installation team has executed the project flawlessly.

Local support extended by the Rotary Club of Palghar contributed to the successful implementation of the project. 600 Schools covering Palghar, Talasari, Vasai and Dahanu have been completed and the School Management Committees’ (SMC) training at 432 schools have also been completed. Menstrual Health Management (MHM) training to the teachers have also been initiated and is being well received. Next month, will see the completion of SMC and MHM training. We are waiting for the children to return to school which will allow for the rest of the project work to be completed.

Recently a three-day visit was conducted by a team member of RCB for random inspection to different schools in Palghar, Talasari, Vasai and Dahanu and it yielded satisfactory results.
