Pheromone Traps Provided To Farmers In Chopda Tehsil To Control Pink Bollworm Attack

Coordinator Rtn. Pradeep Gujarathi sends the highlights:

  1. Unique project for cotton farmers of the entire Chopda Tehsil to save their cotton crop from pink bollworm attack.
  2. Lowest prices negotiated for the pheromone trap set (Trap+Lure) @Rs. 35 with Pest Control Pvt Ltd. (PCI).
  3. IMPACT: 15000 (RCB’s 10000) pheromone traps in around 65 villages of Chopda Tehsil covered appox. 3000 farmers in clusters over 4000 acres of land. According to agricultural experts, the impact will be beneficial over more than 10000 acres.
  4. As water-fed farmers installed these traps earlier, it will automatically benefit poor rain-fed farmers who constitute more than twice the water-fed farmers.
  5. As per the government’s agriculture extension awareness creation programme, their strategy is to transfer any technology with Front Line Demonstration (FLD) and the thumb rule is 1FLD = Reach is to 50 farmers. Here, RCB has created a huge extension by way of this project. Actual impact assessment will be done after season completes.
  6. Thanks to Vitthal AFPRO BCI Chopda’s unit staff of 38 Field Facilitators (FF) and 4 Unit Managers for educating farmers and installing the pheromone traps.
