Twin-Club Agreement With Larkana, Sindh
The Rotaract Club of Bombay planned its most ambitious project – the Twin- Club programme with the Rotaract Club of Larkana in Pakistan on August 16 – well in advance. (They did not realise it at the time, but the most famous residents of Larkana are the Bhutto family.) Contacts through Facebook and other social media enabled them to break the ice and explore the idea of a collaboration. Once a decision to work together was taken, things moved quickly. Members of the two Clubs drafted the contours of a joint project and fixed the date for a joint meeting to sign a Twin- Club agreement. Accordingly, at 11.30 am on Sunday, August 16, members of the two Clubs sat before their respective laptops and engaged in a discussion to further their plan to foster better relations between the youth of the two countries. Once a Skype connection was established, 15 members of the Rotaract Club of Bombay, under the leadership of President Rushabh Tijoriwala, interacted with four members of the Rotaract Club of Larkana. After exchanging greetings, they got down to the business of signing the Twin-Club agreement. This was done by the Presidents and International Service Directors of the two Clubs.
A decision to bring out a joint bulletin to be called “Sarhad Paar” was also taken at this interaction. The Skype interaction concluded with both Clubs deciding to exchange rakhis and letters of goodwill. International Service Director Mehrzaad Mogrelia, along with President Rushabh and members Vidhi and Jharna, played the key role in arranging the interaction. A few days after the Skype event, the Rotaractors got Twin-Club Agreement With Larkana, Sindh The cover of the joint bulletin ‘Sarhad Paar’ brought out by the Rotaract Clubs of Bombay and of Larkana in Pakistan Did you know that dreams can be interpreted in many ways? But so far as the Rotaract Club of Bombay is concerned, “Dreams” is its flagship project and stands for Dance, Riding, Elocution, Art, Magic Show and Singing.
The Club conducts workshops every year for the children at municipal schools and at orphanages to develop their personalities and bring some joy into their lives. This year, the first phase of the project was conducted with students of the Aryan together once again to prepare a parcel containing rakhis and other material to be sent to Larkana. Short messages of goodwill were tied with tricolour rakhis and these, along with a message from President Rushabh, were placed in an envelope and sent by courier to Larkana Rotaract President Sadam Hussain. The third part of the “Sarhad Paar” programme was the preparation of a bulletin by that name. This time, about a dozen Rotaractors in Bombay and half a dozen in Larkana collaborated on the project. They requested Rotaractors in the District to send articles on better relations between the two countries. The “Sarhad Paar” bulletin was then exchanged between the Club members. With efforts between the two countries to resume bilateral talks floundering on various issues, it will be nothing short of miraculous if the youth of the two countries show the way forward to the politicians, diplomats and army personnel. Meanwhile, well done, Rotaractors!
