A Roaring Start to the Year: January Recap

Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

As we move into February, I’m thrilled to reflect on a truly dynamic and engaging January for our club. We’ve kicked off the year with a bang, filled with inspiring speaker meetings, impactful projects, exciting initiatives, and of course, a truly unforgettable fellowship experience.

January proved to be a month of intellectual stimulation, thanks to the diverse range of speakers we welcomed. We began the month with Prabhuji Gauranga Das sharing with us the three essential truths of Vedic leadership being Vinay  (humility),  Vivek  (discrimination), and Vairagya(renunciation). This was followed by an engaging talk by Dr. Jehangir Sorabjee on wellness and the right approach to a long life. We then had Dr. Firuza Parikh, fertility specialist being felicitated with the Sohrab Pirojsha Godrej Science Technology Award. The final speaker for January was Subahoo Chordia speaking to us on Energy Transition. I extend my sincere thanks to our program and awards committees for securing such an impressive lineup of speakers and awardees.

We also saw the second edition of our super successful Anand Rathi Wealth Rotary Golf Classic 2025 and the inaugural edition of the Phillip Capital Rotary Golf Challenge 2025 to raise funds in support of adult literacy. I take this opportunity to thank both PP Vineet Bhatnagar and Rtn. Pradeep Gupta for their immense support. We have been able to raise funds to the tune of Rs. one crore approx. for the cause of adult literacy.

Beyond our engaging meetings, we’ve continued to make strides in our ongoing projects. The organic farming at Gale village is progressing well. We also had the Annual Sports day for the elders of Ananda Yaan where we witnessed the abundant energy and enthusiasm of the elders. They behaved as if they were school kids all over again and had a whale of a time! Our Cotton Green Medical Centre is also making great strides under the astute leadership of PP Arun Sanghi who with the assistance of Chairman Rtn. Dr. Mehernosh Dotivala has for the first time ensured that the centre saw more than one thousand patients in one month! What a fantastic job this team is doing.

Bhavishya Yaan, Lighthouse and the Interact committees are going about their work with their usual zeal and fervour. The children of the respective programs are being engaged and involved in a vast gamut of projects and activities to increase their life skills, gain better insights and overall to help them become better human beings. I commend the dedicated project teams for their hard work and commitment.

Of course, no recap of January would be complete without mentioning our incredible fellowship trip to Kaziranga! Thirty-six Rotarians and partners embarked on this unforgettable adventure, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of the national park and its incredible wildlife. From Jorhat to Majuli, Kaziranga to Brahmaputra, Navagraha temple to Kamakhya temple, thrilling jeep safaris to serene nature walks, we shared laughter, camaraderie, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. This fellowship trip truly embodied the spirit of Rotary, fostering strong bonds and creating memories that will last a lifetime. My heartfelt thanks to Rtn. Ptn. Kashmira Dalal and PP Vineet Bhatnagar for their meticulous planning and execution.

As we move into the frenzy of February, let’s carry the momentum of January forward. I encourage everyone to actively participate in our upcoming meetings, projects, and initiatives. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact in our community and beyond. I look forward to another month of service, fellowship, and growth.

Yours in Rotary, Satyan Israni President
