Advantage TT: RCB’s First Indoor Sports Event!
Sunday, the 22nd of November, proved historic for the RCB indoors sports event – an tournament. Held at the YMCA, Colaba, the tournament had over 30 Rotarians attending and participating. The cochairs of the Sports Committee ensured tournament was a grand success! Rtn. Moy Biswas welcomed everyone and Rtn. Jamshyd explained the tournament format:
The 4 captains, Rtn. President Sonya, and Rtns. Harry, Mukesh and Nowroze] picked names at random, to constitute their respective teams. Rtn. Harry’s team, consisting of Rtns. Rajeev Narvekar, Aradhana Mehta, Hiren Kara, Anuj Arenja, Ravi Fotedar, Yajjat Sekhsaria and Anand Dalal emerged winners of Group l, defeating Rtn. Nowroze’s team comprising Rtns. Jalaj and Mudit Dani, Bipin Vazirani, Mudit Jain, Rajesh Shah, Delna Vazifdar and Sitaram Shah. In Group ll, Rtn. President Sonya’s team comprising Rtns. Bimal Mehta, Jaidev Merchant, Mehernosh Dotivala, Jamshed Banaji, Kanan Fotedar, Hoshang Nazir and Kirit Kamdar beat Rtn. Mukesh’s team including Rtns. Satyan Israni, Jamshyd, Bomi Framroze and Neel Shah. the Second Runners-up, Rtns.
Anand and Yajjat who beat Rtns. Rajeev and Aradhana. Everyone gathered around Rtns. Jaidev and Mehernosh and Rtns. Jamshyd and Kanan. The close-fought match resulted in a win for Kanan & Jamshyd. The interesting mix of participants included 3 couples – Rtn. President Sonya and Bomi, Rtns. Ravi and Kanan and Rtns. Jamshyd and Delna. Not only were there 3 father-son pairings comprising Rtns. Nowroze and Jamshyd; Jalaj and Mudit; and Rajesh and Neel; but also Rtn. Mukesh with his grandson! Enthusiastically cheering all of them on, were Rtns. Bipin Kapadia, Sorab Javeri, Bijal Kara and Niloufer Vazifdar. Kudos to the efforts of the Sports Committee for a fabulous sports venture, which is now set to become a calendar!
