AASHIRWAD by Rotaractors of Rotaract Club of Hinduja College at Ananda Yaan Byculla

 In Rotaract

Motivated by Rtn. Poonam Lalwani, around 45 representatives from The Rotaract Club of Hinduja College came together to organise AASHIRWAD, a noble event in collaboration with its Parent Rotary – the Rotary Club of Bombay where they celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a very innovative and unique way on 4th August. The objective of this event was to share love and give a sense of belonging to 80 registered members of of Ananda Yaan (Elder Day Care Centre) at Byculla.

It was a day full of affection and respect towards the invitees, listening to their hearts and sharing their life experiences. The representatives went on to engage the invitees into some indoor games that helped them to be physically active, get highly involved and full of sprit, where everyone was a winner i.e. the invitees won the hearts of the representatives and the representatives won the blessings of the invitees. Each Rotaractor tied a rakhee to an elder and took their blessings in return. The youngsters sat with the elders chatted with them, and there was much enjoyment and laughter. The colour and the youthful energy of the Rotaractors was much appreciated and many elders when interviewed said that they had only seen such a thing on TV and were bowled over to actually experience it.

The event ended with a heart warming feedback from the members who shared their views in an honest manner. The Rotaractors left with flowers, heavy hearts, and a commitment to continue exploring such noble acts further to contribute towards a better society where joy and prayers are shared. The event was planned and organised by Rtr. Qavee Gupta, Rtr. Nancy Jain, Rtr. Ammar Kanorwala, Rtr. Ayushi Shah and other team members of Rotaract Club Of Hinduja College. While concluding the event they described the emotional element of the event where they were able to co-relate the invitees with their grandparents and a heightened sense towards the elderly and vice versa.

Rtn. Poonam Lalwani and First Lady Devi Narayan oversaw the initiative.
