After introducing access to water and developing agriculture interventions in the village, we have moved towards the next phase. The year-round availability of water will ensure that people engaged in agriculture will get year-round water. However, some are landless or do not have ample land for cultivation. Similarly, some women now have excess time as they have come out of the struggle of filling the water.

In the next phase, we have built the RCB Livelihood Centre which will be equipped with Ground Nut and Patrawali Machine. On June 14th, 2023, this centre was inaugurated by IDG Sandip Agarwalla and IPP Vineet Bhatnagar. On September 17th, 2023, PN Bimal Mehta, Rtn. Vinti Gajree and Rtn. Runit Shah along  with Shraddha Shringarpure of Diganta Swaraj visited Gale to discuss phase 2 for RCB’s Livelihood Centre.

This includes:
– Activation of Livelihood Centre: Livelihood Centre will be activated, offering diverse training programmes and entrepreneurship support.

– Product Processing and Market Linkages: The centre has engaged in actual product processing and established market linkages, promoting economic growth and self-sufficiency.

These interventions are carefully designed to address the community’s needs and aspirations. We believe that together, with collective effort and determination, we can realise the full potential of our village and create a bright and prosperous future for all.

The Committee is also exploring the possibility of introducing the manufacturing of reusable sanitary
napkin stitching from recyclable waste.
As of 2019, only about 36% of
women in India use sanitary pads
during periods. An alarming
number of women living in rural
areas of the country use unhealthy
rags during periods. These
unhealthy alternatives can increase
a woman’s chances of contracting
cervical cancer, Reproductive
Tract Infections (RTIs), Hepatitis
B infection, various types of yeast
infections, and Urinary Tract
Infections (UTIs), to name a few.
Rotary Club of Bombay, along with
the help of Surat NGO Kamakhya,
conducted a sanitary napkin
manufacturing session at the
Livelihood Centre at Gale. More
than 50 women attended the session
and learned how to stitch sanitary
napkins with the help of sanitised
bedsheets and towels. Through this
activity, we will help them produce
pads for captive consumption and
hope to empower these women by
providing them with livelihood.
