 In From the President’s Desk

Dear friends,
The President of Rotary International is on a whistle-stop tour of India and he is in Mumbai for just one day, 12th December.

Your Club is the Lead Host for a dinner at the Taj President Hotel where he will be attending the only official engagement of his brief stop-over.

It would be nice to see many of you’ll at that meeting. Please contact the RCB office for details. The registration price is just Rs.3000/- per head.

There is also the annual District Conference being held at the JW Marriott in early February.

Please join me at that Conference. It is an opportunity to meet with the extended Rotary family of District 3141 and realize the depth there is to the Rotary movement. Of course the content and the fellowship would be a great incentive.

With the temperature turning favorable our Sports Committee will come into its own. They’ve gotten off to a great start, and the Golf Tournament on January 6th. is always one of the favorite items on the roster of events for me.

In the days ahead, we will also see the Environment Committee making its mark in the area of Community welfare, and the Rotary Echo Committee would have flagged off its programs.

That’s Rotary for you. Never a dull moment.

While our Club has been active in various spheres of service, there is one very needy area where we should make our presence felt. And that is, helping street children. Think about it. These are kids who do not have even a slum to go home to. They lie on our streets at the mercy of anti-social elements. We have made a tentative beginning in our efforts to help them. Hopefully I will be able to share more good news about this in the near future.

And if you have any ideas on how we could help street children, or abandoned orphans, please do let me know. Let’s not aim for low hanging fruit. We need to reach out and help the poorest of the poor. The most needy constituents of our society.

As I never tire of saying, if we can impact the life of even one person positively, ours is a life well lived.
