President’s Message
OH COMMITTEE, MY COMMITTEE!
A wise man by the name of Mattie Stepanek once said “In Unity is Strength” and to no other group of people does this stand truer than for my fellow Rotarians. It is only in our unity, comradery and shared passions that we have been able to achieve everything we have.
While there is an ever so common occasional tussle, we always find a way to common ground for we all share a common vision for a better tomorrow. It is our basic principles of service that unite us and while we have a president, vice president and other different posts nothing would be achieved if it wasn’t for the collective efforts of everyone.
But the truth of the matter is that we all don’t share the same vigour for the same causes and thank God for that, because it would be utter chaos and pandemonium. So we form committees to facilitate projects and group like-minded people together to achieve the goals for that year. And every year every committee and committee member goes through
something like this:
A COMMITTEE
Oh give me your pity, I’m on a committee.
Which means that from morning to night
We attend and amend and contend and defend
Without a conclusion in sight.
We confer and concur, we defer and demur,
We reiterate all of our thoughts.
We revise the agenda with frequent addends
And consider a load of reports.
We compose and propose, we suppose and oppose
And points of procedure we shun
But though various notions are brought up as motions
There’s terribly little gets done
We resolve and absolve, but we never dissolve
Since it’s out of the question for us.
What a shattering pity to end our committee
Where else could we make such a fuss?

As the year draws to an end and we all start to wrap up our committees with reports and presentations, just know that if it wasn’t for your commitment, generosity and fervor this year would not have been such an amazing success. So it is with deep and heartfelt gratitude that I ‘Thank You’ for your service as Rotarians and know that the world is a better place for it.
