A Trip To Talwada
A momentous day of the Rotary year 2018 – 19, 2nd September marked a historic visit by our enthusiastic Rotarians to the crown jewel project of the Rotary Club of Bombay – Talwada, a three hour drive from Mumbai.
Our club has adopted this tribal area by catering to its medical and higher educational needs.
- We run the Phiroze Ratanshah Vakil Eye Centre which celebrated its 40th anniversary. A Trip To Talwada
- We also run the Ajit Deshpande Medical Center which has completed 20 years.
- Lastly, we support the Ansuyadevi Taparia Junior College as well.
We impact the lives of more than 65,000 people annually in the region through our medical and educational facilities.
These facilities, including the medicines are completely free of charge.
On this occasion The Ajit Deshpande Medical Center of the Rotary Club of Bombay was upgraded with a digitised X-Ray
machine, a cell counter, few dental chairs and air-conditioners. For all of this, we thank Homi Bhabha for his generosity, who kindly agreed to provide all the equipment required at the request of his friend IPP Rtn. Ramesh Narayan.
The entire upgraded equipment was dedicated in the honour of Homi Bhabha’s mother, the Late Dr. Amy Bhabha.
The Talwada Project has been running smoothly for the past few decades due to the unstinting efforts of our Rotarians Dr. Rahim Muljiani, Dr. Rumi Jehangir, Dr. Sorab Jhaveri and more recent additions Dr. Priyanka Doctor and Dr. Mehernosh Dotivala along with their team of doctors and para medical staff.
