Chalaang Sculpts A Better Future
Students of Chalaang learn the art of sculpturing! The Vaidu Upliftment Committee of RCB thanks Mr. Manthan Teli and Mr. Nagesh Shirkalu for spending the day at Jogeshwari and teaching our tribal children how to sculpt. Photos of the workshop speak to the talent and creativity of the children who are learning how to be self-sufficient and will bring their own Ganapatis home this year to take their troubles away!
PROJECT CHALAANG EXPLORES THE WORLD
75 tribal children who have never stepped beyond the streets on which they begged, explored India’s different states during a summer camp with Vipla Foundation. They are now being taught about the oceans and continents of the world.
By providing nutritional snacks and starting Project Chalaang, Rotary Club of Bombay has ensured that they spend at
least three hours of the day learning and having fun.
A hot summer day at both the Jogeshwari and Marol centre starts with a prayer and Yoga. Post that, they learn about
planet Earth, its shape, and the land-water distribution. They also create their own globes as a follow-up activity of the day. Their vocabulary for globe is enhanced with memory games.
They are also taught that Earth is our home and the world consist of human beings who must all take care of the planet and each other. They learn about Michael Jackson and the famous song: We are the world!
