Free Vaccines For Palghar Tribals

The Rotary Club of Bombay has organised free Covid vaccine camps for the tribal residents of Palghar district.

was essential because tribals were not getting vaccinated due to the prohibitive cost, unavailability of vaccines and the various dogmas in their mind. RCB is vaccinating the tribals free of cost.

DGE Sandip Agarwalla, who initiated the drive, says, “My good friend Mr. Amin Manekia, Managing Trustee, Prince Aly Khan Hospital, happened to mention their charity work in vaccinations. I requested 1,000 vaccines for Palghar District, and he immediately agreed. RCB supports Aastha Hospital in Manor and Rtn. Dr. Avinash Sonawane there, is a member of Rotary Club of Manor Highway. We are doing the vaccination drive through him.”

Besides these, PP Bhagwan Patil, PP Shashank Thkare and our very own Rtn. Swati Jajdoia were roped in. Says DGE Sandip, “I introduced Swati to the team of Prince Aly Khan and the Palghar Manor and Wada teams and she got going. Full credit to her, she has single-handedly done all the coordination, procurement, permissions, request letters and whatever was required.”

“The only mandate I gave her was to make sure that it happens inside villages and for tribals. The Palghar, Manor and Wada clubs got into the act. The first camp was held one day after they received the vaccines, that was their level of preparedness. It has been going very smoothly so far A lot of advocacy is needed to explain to the tribals that it is not dangerous, it is good for their health.”
