¡Hola España!
This coming Tuesday, we look forward to welcoming the Consul General of Spain to address our Club.
Spain is famous for its easy-going culture, delicious food, and stunning scenery. Major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia all offer unique traditions, languages, and must-see sites! Vibrant festivals such as La Fallas and La Tomatina draw huge crowds of both locals and tourists.
According to The Economist in 2005, Spain had the world’s 10th highest quality of life. Some of the main areas of economic activity are the automotive industry, medical technology, chemicals, shipbuilding, tourism, and the textile industry. The Spanish economy is the fifth largest in Europe behind Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, and France.
Spain has a vivid history, with more than a few cultures passing through the country over the years. Because of this, Spanish cuisine is made up of many different cultures in reality, with traditional foods from the Romans, the Carthaginians and the Jews all playing their part in today’s take on Spanish cuisine. No holiday to Spain is complete without a delicious meal out where you can enjoy the amazing cuisine for which this country is famous for. Spanish food is known for its fresh ingredients, its distinct flavours, and the contrast between different regions thanks to its past. From barrel-aged Rioja to fortified sherry, Spain is one of the top wine-producing countries in the world.
And: caution – spoiler alert! – it is not only the very varied food, vibrant festivals and vast culture that bind India and Spain together.
We look forward to hearing from your excellency Fernando Heredia Noguer!
