AUSPICIOUS MAKAR SANKRANT

As we dawn into the beginning of this New Year, one must acknowledge the auspicious day of January 14 – which is the very beginning of a good start in the Hindu calendar.

“Makar Sankranti” or “Makar Sankrant” as it is known, is a celebration of triumph with colour, pride and joy – in the state of Gujarat particularly – when airplanes are less circled than twirling kites, tizzy landings of coloured paper planes and new age modelled kites that take the sky by storm.

The traditional manja (kite thread) is so well known to make a good cut through flying kites that the slang of it is yet popularly used by all saying “Fly a Kite!” This is done on and after January 14 and more so good deeds and deals swamp the market post this date for heavy investments and purchases which are considered auspicious and on a climb for prosperity. There is no looking back to buying a car or a house when one does so post-January 14 – this month is a turbo start and booster to one and all.

As we know, the world did go through a distinct changing of times but not in the way anyone had hoped. We have lived through the terrible unpredictability of last year and we invite 2021 into our lives with diligence and persistence. Let us raise our spirits and look forward to year of good fortune and excellence in our lives and our work.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
