It’s IIT Powai for Students of BY!

 In Bhavishya Yaan

The 13th of February, 2016 saw a hundred and ninety-five students of Bhavishya Yaan, from all five schools belonging to grades VIII and IX, attending IIT Powai’s Technology Fair. The Fair is a collaborative effort of VIDYA and Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay, which is an initiative of the National Mission on Education through ICT. The objective of the Fair was to show the huge scope of opportunities available to underprivileged children and to motivate them into aiming high and achieving big. The Tech Fair presented workshops, demonstrations and presentations by professors and faculty members of IIT – Mumbai.

The objective of technology fair was to expose students to self-learning aids and the latest in technology and to inspire students for a career in IT. It also helped the students explore other themes including robotics, financial literacy and cyber safety, understanding spoken tutorials. Career building and counseling sessions were also conducted. It was a thoroughly enriching and enjoyable experience for the BY students who also participated in the Q&A sessions. They were intrigued and talked endlessly about the concept of robotics as they were exposed to this for the first time. Bhavishya Yaan, in its constant endeavor towards betterment, has furthered its scope and now includes its alumni as well for some events, to expand their exposure for career options. Some alumni also volunteer in organising BY programmes by helping juniors of their school as also the Bhavishya Yaan teachers for special programmes. In keeping with the same, BY alumni too attended the Fest and surely benefitted by interacting with the expert career counselors present, to better comprehend the many options available to them.
